MYSA Tee-Ball Program

Tee‑ball is a recreational program that provides all players, regardless of ability, a place to learn and play as part of a team.

Practices

  • Two practices per week starting the week of April 22, 2025.
  • Practice length is 45 minutes to an hour.
  • Practices are held at Black Partridge Park.

Games

  • Teams will play 10 games.
  • Games are scheduled in May and June.

Ages

  • Eligible for children with birthdays between July 1, 2018 and May 1, 2021.

If you are interested in coaching or assisting in the MYSA Tee‑Ball Program, please indicate your interest on the registration form. Head coaches will have their player’s registration fee waived. The MYSA Tee‑Ball Director will contact you as registration ends.

MYSA 8U Baseball

8U Baseball is the next level of play for boys transitioning from tee ball. In this coach-pitch format, players deepen their understanding of the game while developing essential skills.

Evaluations

  • Players will be evaluated to determine skill level and balance teams for competitive play.
  • All boys will be placed on a team.
  • Evaluations will take place in early April.

Practices

  • Two practices per week starting around the week of April 21, 2025.
  • Each practice is approximately 1.5 hours long.
  • Most practices will be held at Lincoln-Douglas Park; some may be at the lower St. Mary’s field.

Games

  • Teams will typically play two games per week during the regular season.
  • Approximately 12 regular season games are scheduled, followed by a single-elimination playoff tournament.
  • The tournament will conclude before the 4th of July.

Ages

  • Designed for 7- and 8-year-old boys in first and second grade.
  • 6-year-olds who are ready to progress beyond tee ball may also participate.

Coaches & Assistant Coaches

If you are interested in serving as a head coach or an assistant coach, please indicate your interest on the registration form. Head coaches are eligible to have their player’s registration fee waived. The 8U Baseball Director will contact coaching volunteers ahead of evaluations.

MYSA In-House Softball Program

The In-House Softball Program is a recreational league that provides players of all abilities a welcoming environment to learn and play softball as part of a team.

Evaluations

  • Player evaluations will be held on April 12th and 13th, if needed.
  • Coach volunteers will participate in the evaluations and team selection draft process.

Practices

  • Two practices per week starting the week of April 21, 2025.
  • Each practice is approximately 1.5 hours long.
  • Practices will be held at Black Partridge Park Softball Field or Schupp Park.

Games

  • Teams will typically play two games per week, totaling approximately 12 games.
  • The season will culminate with a tournament.
  • Games are scheduled from May 27 through mid-July, with tournament games starting on July 14.

Leagues

Based on grades completed as of May 2025:

  • Pixie: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Grade
  • Junior: 4th and 5th Grade
  • Intermediate: 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade

If you are interested in coaching or assisting in the MYSA In-House Softball Program, please indicate your interest on the registration form. Head coaches are eligible for a waiver of their player’s registration fee (up to $100). The MYSA Softball Director will contact coach volunteers prior to evaluations.

MYSA In-House Kid-Pitch Baseball Program (Grades 3–6)

The In-House Kid-Pitch Baseball Program offers a recreational setting where players of all skill levels can learn and enjoy baseball as part of a team.

Evaluations

  • If needed, player evaluations will be held on April 12th and 13th.

Practices

  • Two practices per week starting the week of April 21, 2025.
  • Each practice lasts approximately 1.5 hours.
  • Practices will be held at Black Partridge Park.

Games

  • Teams will typically play two games per week, with a total of approximately 12 games.
  • The season concludes with a tournament, with games scheduled throughout June and July.

Leagues

Based on grades completed as of May 2025:

  • Mustang: 3rd and 4th Grade
  • Bronco: 5th and 6th Grade

As registration winds down, the MYSA Bat and Ball Committee will contact interested candidates. Do not let any perceived lack of knowledge or experience hold you back—assistance will be provided with practice drills and player evaluations as needed. Head coaches are eligible for a waiver of their player’s registration fee (up to $100).

MYSA Tennis Program

Program Description

The MYSA Tennis Program is designed specifically for youth, aiming to introduce and foster a love for tennis in a fun and engaging environment. This program offers a comprehensive introduction to the sport, ensuring that participants not only develop fundamental tennis skills but also gain an understanding of the game's rules and strategy.

Key Features

  • Skill Development: The program focuses on building essential tennis skills such as serving, volleying, backhand and forehand strokes. Each session is tailored to enhance the abilities of participants and improve their overall game performance.
  • Structured Sessions: With two 1.5-hour sessions per week, the program provides ample opportunity for practice and progression. These sessions are strategically designed to balance instruction with playtime, allowing participants to apply what they have learned in a game setting. Play days will include matches and mini-tournaments to apply what athletes have learned at practice.
  • Inclusive Environment: We are committed to creating an inclusive space where all youth, regardless of skill level, feel welcome. Our program emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect, fostering a sense of community among participants.
  • Fitness and Fun: Beyond skill development, our program promotes physical fitness and encourages a healthy lifestyle. Each session is filled with activities that are both challenging and enjoyable, making exercise feel like play.
  • The MYSA Tennis Program is more than just a sports activity—it's an opportunity for youth to grow, learn, and make lasting friendships while learning the game of tennis.

Program Details

Age Groups (grade leaving): 3-4th Boys/Girls | 5-6th Boys/Girls | 7-8th Boys/Girls

Registration: Opens March 23 - Closes May 3

Location/Equipment All practices and play days will take place at the Metamora High School Tennis Courts. Athletes will need to provide their own racket, water, and tennis shoes.

Cost: $50 Single Session | $80 Both Sessions (Only 1 Shirt)

Dates/Times:
Session 1: June 2- June 27 (2 x 1.5hr Practices per week + Optional Play Day Friday of Week 3 & 4)
Session 2: July 7 - Aug 1 (2 x 1.5hr Practices per week + Optional Play Day Friday of Week 3 & 4)

Coaches: We will need volunteer coaches. If you are interested in coaching one of these levels please indicate so on the registration form. Coaches will be able to attend training sessions in May to help familiarize them with instruction and practice plans/drills that will be provided
